Dari Etika Air ke Kewargaan Ekologis dalam Novel Anak-Anak Sungai Sondong: Kajian Ekokritik

Abstract

This article analyzes the novel Anak-Anak Sungai Sondong by Ramajani Sinaga (2023) using an ecocritical approach sharpened by ecojustice pedagogy to trace the representational shift from water ethics to ecological citizenship. The method is qualitative-descriptive with close reading strategy. Data collection was conducted through repeated reading and coding of eight operational ecological citizenship indicators. Data analysis involved four stages: data reduction, theory-driven coding, narrative pattern mapping, and analytical interpretation. Results show that the novel constructs ecological cause-and-effect logic and produces the child subject as a public agent connecting local experience to demands for social change through collective action and advocacy. The river is positioned as a living space mediating health, economy, and solidarity, while opening water issues as matters of justice and civic participation. This study affirms children's literature as public pedagogy for water literacy and the SDG 6 agenda.

 

Abstrak

Artikel ini menganalisis novel Anak-Anak Sungai Sondong karya Ramajani Sinaga (2023) dengan pendekatan ekokritik yang dipertajam oleh ecojustice pedagogy guna menelusuri pergeseran representasi dari etika air menuju kewargaan ekologis. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif dengan strategi close reading. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pembacaan berulang dan pengodean delapan indikator operasional kewargaan ekologis. Teknik analisis data melibatkan empat tahap: reduksi data, pengodean terbimbing teori (theory-driven coding), pemetaan pola naratif, dan penafsiran analitik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan novel berhasil membangun logika sebab-akibat ekologis dan memproduksi subjek anak sebagai agen publik yang menghubungkan pengalaman lokal dengan tuntutan perubahan sosial melalui aksi kolektif dan advokasi. Sungai diposisikan sebagai ruang hidup yang memediasi kesehatan, ekonomi, dan solidaritas, sekaligus membuka pembacaan isu air sebagai persoalan keadilan dan partisipasi warga.
