KORESPONDENSI BUNYI BAHASA BUGIS DIALEK SOPPENG DAN DIALEK ENNAK (Buginese Phonemic Correspondence of Soppeng and Ennak Dialects)

Abstract

Phonemic correspondence could not be separated from sound changes law. Sound changes among cognate
languagesin reflecting sounds found in proto-language resulted different language or dialect, it happened
systematically or sporadically. The research is important to find out sound changes arising in Soppeng and
Ennak dialects, even both dialects are the same language. The aim of the research is to uncover the form of
phonemic correspondence using recurrence, co-occurrence, or analogy. Method used is descriptive qualitative
through formal and informal phonemic correspondence. Result of the research finds out sound variations of
both dialects, they are [/a: ~ a / # -], [/a: ~ a/#k -], [/u: ~ u/# -], [/u: ~ u/# -], [/o ~ ə / -k# ], [/o: ~ ə / -k# ],
[w(w) ~ h (Ø)/ # -] , [w ~ n/ v – v], [Ø ~ w/ v – v], [Ø ~ h/ # -], [b ~ h (Ø )/ # -], [l:l ~ llv].
